Mgr. MgA. Eva Schulzová, Ph.D. researcher

Eva Schulzová focuses mainly on the analysis of dramatic texts’ content and their formal tendencies. She is interested in the issues of media adaptation, in the specific means of expression of individual media, their transformations, intersections, and inspiration, and especially in the mutual influence of film and radio. During her studies at the Studio of Radio and Television Dramaturgy and Screenwriting at the Theatre Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts she gained valuable insight into audio-visual and audio media.

In her courses, she tries to not just broaden the knowledge of future screenwriters and dramaturges and their awareness of the historical, cultural and theoretical context of literary and dramatic works, but above all to motivate and inspire students in their own work. Therefore, the presentations of students’ own texts and dramaturgical discussions are an important part of her seminars.

Eva Schulzová graduated from the Studio of Radio and Television Dramaturgy and Screenwriting at the Theatre Faculty of JAMU in Brno. Under the supervision of Prof. PhDr. Antonín Přidal, she wrote her master’s thesis on the cycle New Generation’s Plays and Documentaries, which was broadcast on Czech Radio Vltava in the years 2007–2015 (the thesis was defended in 2009, the book published 2013), and her dissertation The Original Czech Radio Play after 1989 (defended 2013, book 2014). She also studied German Philology and Literature at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University. As part of her doctoral studies at the Theatre Faculty of JAMU she completed a two-semester study and research internship at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and attended several conferences (International Seminar of Doctoral Studies of Theater Schools, 2011, Theatre Faculty of JAMU, Brno;  Attention, please! – Das Hörspiel im Zeitalter der verkürzten Aufmerksamkeitsspanne. Symposion des Leipziger Hörspielsommers, 2010, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Leipzig).
