Mgr. Andrea Jochmanová, Ph.D. researcher

Andrea’s long-standing academic interest include the history of Czech theatre, the issues concerning the relationship between theatre and folklore, theatre and gender, cultural anthropology and game theory and game principles.

Over her academic training in theatre studies at Masaryk University Brno (1998-2006) Andrea began to take a consistent interest in modernism and the avant-garde in Czech theatre and subsequently also in further significant episodes in the history of Czech theatre. Starting in 2003 she has been presenting the results of her research through university courses and individual lectures and seminars in Brno, Prague and Olomouc. In the years 2006-2009 she worked as an assistant professor at the Cabinet of Theatre Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University Brno; she maintains her ties to the faculty as an external instructor.

Since 2006 she has also been working as the curator of the manuscripts and scenography collection at the Department of Theatre History in the Moravian Museum in Brno. Here she occasionally attempts to apply Osolsobě´s minimum theatrale, i.e. ostention through exhibiting artefacts related to theatre history. In 2010 she was given a part-time position as a researcher (with editorial competences) at the Department for Theatre Research at JAMU where her study The World behind Space. Jiří Frejka´s Production in the 1920s was published in 2012.
